In this workshop, we will explore the profound impact France has had on artists throughout history.
You'll be introduced to a selection of famous works by foreign artists who found inspiration in France’s beauty, many of whom lived, worked, or studied there.
Participants will then select a piece that resonates with them and reimagine it through a fresh, Saudi perspective, creating their own inspired artwork.

Whether you’re an experienced artist or just beginning, this workshop offers a chance to explore, create, and connect with the timeless allure of French art through your own unique lens.

Join us at the Book Fair 2024 for the Character creation Drawing with Marc Boutavant.



In this creative workshop, participants will imagine and design their own characters, inspired by popular figures such as Ariol and Chien Pourri. They will then have the opportunity to create a unique book cover, similar to Chien Pourri in Riyadh. The workshop will also include an interactive session with the author, Marc Boutavant, allowing participants to engage and learn from his creative process.

A fun moment to unleash creativity and dive into the world of comics!



Marc Boutavant is a French illustrator and author of children's literature and comics.

He has published several children's books with Albin Michel, Actes Sud junior, Nathan, Seuil jeunesse, Bayard Jeunesse and Mila Éditions. In 2002, he created his own animal world with the Mouk series. Le Tour du monde de Mouk, published in 2007 by Albin Michel jeunesse, features a character he describes as “vaguely like a bear”, emphasizing the importance of the general impression rather than the precise identification of the animal.

Ralph Doumit - Writing Workshop - Book Fair 2024 1st day

Join us at the Book Fair 2024 for the writing workshop with Ralph Doumit.

The writing workshop will focus on the first chapter of Pauline et Marco, which begins with, "What I've always wanted is to be an alien." The children will be invited to write a text following the same format, "What I've always wanted is to be...," with guidance on how to effectively characterize their main character.



Ralph Doumit is a French-Lebanese author and illustrator, born in 1985 and currently living in Lebanon. He earned a master's degree in Illustration and Comics from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts in 2009, where he has been teaching the History of Comics since 2010. He has published several novels and illustrated books in Lebanon, including Le trèfle et les quatre royaumes (published by Samir Éditeur), and in France, such as Poisson amoureux (published by Hong Fei). In 2022, his novel Que fait-on quand il pleut ? was released by éditions hélium. A second novel, Pauline et Marco, will be published by the same publisher in August 2024. Ralph Doumit is also a cultural journalist for the Lebanese monthly L’Orient Littéraire and a curator for exhibitions focusing on the world of illustration and comics.
